Yes. You can fly to North America as a Delta Unaccompanied Minor with a 14-year-old. This applies to children from the ages of 5 to 14 travelling alone (not with a parent, legal guardian or another passenger aged 18 or above, in the same cabin).

The Delta Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Policy covers watching over the children while riding the airplane. Services include a wristband (which can be tracked), employee assistance and Delta Sky Zone at participating airports.

What are the rules for a 14-year-old Delta unaccompanied minor?

A 14-year-old child can travel without a guardian on eligible flights on Delta. Children of 14 years old are allowed to fly with no guardians on Delta subject to routing, not service.

  • The kid should be issued an official ticket.
  • Service for Unaccompanied Minor is mandatory for children under the age of 15.
  • Most travelers ages 8 to 14 are eligible for travel by non-stop flights or directly to their destination by eligible connecting flights.
  • Only Delta, Delta Connection and selected partner flights are available for connections.
  • A child must be accompanied on check-in by an adult.
  • A particular adult must be there for the child upon arrival at their destination.

How much are Delta Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Fees?

Children 14 and 5 years old or younger who meet the criteria to travel alone are $150.00 per way with Delta Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Fees. Travel fee applies to overseas and domestic travel – up to four children traveling together where applicable contact details are the same.

This is in addition to the child’s actual airfare and applicable tax and/or other ticket cost.

How do I book a Delta flight for a 14-year-old travelling alone?

Parents/guardians should call Delta Reservations to make an eligible unaccompanied minor booking. Provide any and all information as may be necessary as it relates to the child, travel and anything else that may be required by the adults dropping off and collecting the child.

The child must also abide by Delta’s travel procedures as per the Delta Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Policy. Parents are advised to come early to check-in and to remain reachable until the child is accepted for traveling by Delta.

What Documents Does a 14-Year-Old Need to Fly Alone on Delta?

Travels in conjunction with the travel documents required for the specific travels of a 14-year-old traveling alone. The parent(s) are responsible for packing the child’s identification, flight information, and other documents for foreign travel.

Identification proof for the child and the adult who will drop off and pick up the child is mandatory. Before departure one needs to check what is necessary for Delta in order to curb delays at the airport.

What happens when the 14-year-old arrives at the airport?

An authorized adult conducts check-in, and presents appropriate identification. Then, Delta helps the child along the approved travel process. Delta only releases the child to the adult / adults designated to receive the child upon verification at the destination.

Can a 14-year-old fly alone internationally on Delta?

Traveling with a minor child but without the parent is permitted on Delta as long as the route is approved and the rules of partner-airlines are followed. Before parent’s book flights, they are advised to double-check all travel requirements and itinerary with Delta.

Conclusion

An unaccompanied minor who is 14 years old and qualifies as such under the criteria of Delta is able to travel alone. Renting the necessary service, paying the required fee, having all correct identification and having the necessary adults present at the airport for checkout will help with a smoother trip.
