These are very delicate matters that can affect a person’s wellbeing. Hold on there. It is a thing of the past. Good news has arrived. Medical science has advanced and, dentures are here for people with affected teeth issues. So cheer up one and all. This is reason enough for you to smile with all your 32 teeth out.

Meaning of Denture

All your life you definitely must have heard of someone or the other in your family or among your friends using the term “false teeth”. And yes, this is just it. You are on the right track. False teeth are in a dentist’s words dentures. It is a substitute for your missing teeth with its adjoining tissues. It can either be removed or permanently fixed in place. The latest technology advancement has given us the option to openly welcome a false teeth placement procedure. This is a surgical process for those people who are suffering from tooth loss or other oral problems.

Who Needs Dentures?

One fine morning you get up and see that your permanent teeth is moving and this is shaking the life out of you with fright and nervousness. Of course, the natural course of action for you would be to visit a dentist. So it is an understood fact that people with problems with their teeth need dentures. It could be a young person or an old person who undoubtedly needs them. It is a blessing for both young and old alike.

User Benefits of Dentures

A missing tooth or even worse teeth could cause unwanted havoc in a person’s life. It could simply wreak his self-esteem. To avoid this compounded with other issues it is only right that you get dentures for yourself. There are many benefits of false teeth. They are:

  • For chewing
  • Beautification of oneself
  • To get your pronunciation right and avoid embarrassment
  • Boosting of one’s self-confidence

Types of Dentures

Dentures are of two types. They are:

  • Complete dentures
  • Partial dentures

Complete Denture

A complete set is that which is used when all of a person’s teeth are missing. Again a complete denture is categorized as conventional or immediate dentures. Recovery after teeth extraction takes something between 8 to 12 weeks when it completely heals, and the denture is ready for insertion in the mouth. Whereas in an immediate denture, it is made beforehand and placed in position immediately after the extraction takes place. Here the person does not go without teeth even for a day. But it has its negativities too. With time the gums and bones shrink during the healing process and, the fixtures tend to become a misfit then.

Partial Dentures

A partial denture is removable and can be worn on and off. It comprises the required number of teeth that are fixed on a pink or gum-coloured plastic base which is strapped by a metal framework to hold it in place. This method is suitable when one or two teeth go missing. It could be on either jaw. This not only substitutes for the missing teeth but also prevents the other teeth from changing their positions which can inconvenience the person. A precision partial denture, another milestone in dental history has internal attachments to the crowns and makes it more natural-looking.

Past history says dentures were made of porcelain or plastic. But today denture materials have diversified and, there are many materials available in the market from which superior quality dentures are made. Nowadays, dentures are made from acrylic, nylon, porcelain, resin or metal. This may somewhat feel unusual at first, but with the passage of time it fits in and you get accustomed to it. Everyday tasks like eating, talking and even your self-confidence may feel a setback but, it gradually settles in and, you are comfortable in it.
